OUR TEAM
Team Identity & Culture
Stanford RoboSub exists because we believe underwater robots are cool, oceans are important, and the best engineering usually happens somewhere between a whiteboard, a pool deck, a pile of tools, and someone saying, “Wait… what if we tried this?”
We are a student-led team of builders, coders, designers, researchers, troubleshooters, late-night debuggers, and enthusiastic waterproofing skeptics. Our culture is built around curiosity, kindness, shared learning, and the belief that robotics should be both technically ambitious and genuinely fun. We value reliability, creativity, collaboration, and the courage to test things even when the robot has other plans.
At our core, Stanford RoboSub is more than a competition team. We are a place where students learn by doing, where mechanical, electrical, software, and research ideas meet in one very opinionated submarine, and where every pool test teaches us something new. We build autonomous underwater vehicles because they challenge us to solve hard problems in perception, control, sensing, and design - and because they can help us better understand and protect aquatic environments.
Also, we just really like submarines.
